case studies
brief
Accommodation to remain within the family’s current living area to enable access for work and school as well as being able to manage the on-going work required to their home. As the duration of stay was unknown, flexibility on departure date was required as it could be anything from one month onwards. An Increased living space and the ability to prepare own meals with separate living areas were sought over the hotel option and all to be within the insurance companies cost expectations.
solution
Situated in the same area as the customers’ home, a two bed room apartment with its own kitchen, offering all the facilities that you would find at home, fridge, washing machine, microwave, oven and hob. Well equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The apartment is provided with a seperate living/dining area having a TV with Freeview, DVD player as well as complimentary Wi-Fi. Access via patio doors to a small well enclosed private garden area. All the utility bills are taken care of and the apartment is given a light clean with fresh supply of towels and linen on a weekly basis, which is all included in the weekly cost. Parking is off the road and outside the property.
benefits
This option offers so much more space than a hotel room and keeps the family in their local community enabling their life to continue in as much a normal way as possible with the parents able to get the children to school and nursery and them to work as they would normally do. Having a fully equipped kitchen helps with meal preparation and the washing machine is a real bonus. The garden means the children don’t have to stay cooped up in doors and can play safely outside. With all the utility bills taken care of within the price this removes any stress, paperwork and offers the insurance company a known, up front weekly cost which is very competitive in comparison to a hotel and easier and more flexible than looking into a short term let where the terms are normally a year minimum. The weekly clean and supply of linen and towels are an added bonus in what could generally be a worrying time trying to get their home habitable again.
outcome
Customer stayed with ShortletsUK for 3 months with the insurance covering their full cost. ShortletsUK invoiced the insurance company directly. The family were able to return their home to normal once their builders had finished the job and the children’s schooling was not disrupted and they were able to get on with their normal daily lives with minimal disruption.

brief
The company were looking for a flexible cost effective package that was close to their Manor Royal Head office but still had easy access to shopping and restaurants for their staff during evenings and weekends.
solution
ShortletsUK offered up two, two ensuite bed room apartments in the same block for a year’s commitment. They are a five minute walk to the local train station where a short company bus ride to the office was available and a five minute walk in the opposite direction from the busy town centre with all the shopping and restaurant’s that would ever be needed as well as the local entertainment park housing cinema complex and bowling alley next to an activity and gym centre. Parking was available if required and there is a small grocery store two minutes away with a larger store a short local bus ride.
benefits
Taking two apartments with two bedrooms, both ensuite, meant the company could operate with four employees in at the same time. This was a much more effective use of budget over a hotel room for each employee. Each employee had the privacy of their own bedroom and bathroom with joint benefit of the living and eating area offering a more spacious and comfortable living time. Coupled with the two being in the same block it meant they had colleagues and peers to socialise and travel to the work place with. As some of the employees where in the UK longer than others it helped that the company had the flexibility of co-ordinating the bedrooms almost as hotel rooms where they could check one employee out and another in as they swapped over. Weekly cleaning and change of linen was organised to coincide with these employee swap overs. Being close to the main hub of the town also meant that the employees could relax and rest in their down time with a visit to the shops or cinema.
outcome
The company managed to successfully complete their project within the twelve months utilising over sixteen different members of staff from all over the world who came for differing periods of time in a under their original accommodation budget and in straightforward way.
